So, like, there was this whole thing at the Manhattan Criminal Courts Building, you know? Firefighters and paramedics were all up in there, checking out this white powder situation, according to the FDNY.
Apparently, around 4 p.m. on Wednesday, emergency crews got a report about possible powder at the Lower Manhattan courthouse. Someone sent a white substance in an envelope through the mail to the building, which got seven people potentially exposed, according to the state’s Office of Court Administration.
The court peeps were quick to seal off the 12th-floor spot and quarantine the affected employees. They also made sure to shut down the building’s ventilation system properly, as per an OCA spokesperson. The NYPD and FDNY were called in too, you know, just in case.
As a precaution, emergency crews took care of seven people, according to some law enforcement source. No injuries were reported right away, said the OCA spokesperson. There was a whole bunch of first responders on the scene, with a big ol’ response on the streets and sidewalk nearby. The investigation was still going on, so who knows what’s up.
