On Thursday evening, a man claimed to have planted a bomb in front of the police station in Husum, triggering a police operation. The man went to the station and told officers there was a bomb outside, a police spokesman said. The surrounding area was cordoned off and the explosive ordnance clearance service called in. He found a plastic bag, but it only contained a knife block with several knives.

The man was then taken to a psychiatric hospital. The police station is near a train station. Train services to and from Husum were temporarily suspended during the operation. After the end of the police measures at 8:30 p.m., there were further delays in train traffic.
