The police broke up a meeting against the AfD party at Hamburg’s town hall market. Around 50 demonstrators gathered in front of the town hall on Monday evening, the police said. An AfD faction meeting is said to have taken place there.
A peaceful demonstration by “Grandmas against the Right” had previously taken place on Jungfernstieg. The subsequent meeting was mainly directed against the AfD.
The police led the group of people at the Rathausmarkt back towards Jungfernstieg and took the participants’ personal details. One person used physical violence against a police officer. She was not injured in the attack. The police also issued bans for the Rathausmarkt until 11 p.m. Other media had previously reported on it.
