Club icon Horst Hrubesch can imagine continuing his work as youth manager at the second division soccer team Hamburger SV. “The final decision as to whether I will continue or not will be made in spring. But the tendency is that I will continue at HSV,” said the 71-year-old to “Bild” (Thursday). His contract at Volkspark expires in the summer of 2023.
Hrubesch, three times German champion with HSV and winner of the European Cup, has been responsible for youth work at the Hanseatic League since summer 2020. With an average age of 19.6, the club’s under-21s are in second place in the Regionalliga Nord.
“I’ve always said that it takes four to five years to put the youngsters on a solid footing. It doesn’t happen overnight. I’ve only been here for two and a half years,” said the 1980 European champion: “We work here They work very well together as a team and I think we’re on the right track. I really enjoy working with talented people.”
