Federal transportation officials are scratching their heads and launching an investigation into why a Mexican navy tall ship decided to play a game of chicken with the Brooklyn Bridge. The daring collision resulted in the vessel’s three masts snapping like twigs, claiming the lives of two unfortunate crew members and leaving other sailors hanging in the air like a bunch of lost balloons.

The ship, known as the Cuauhtémoc, was supposed to be on a global goodwill tour, spreading joy and happiness wherever it went. Instead, it found itself in hot water (or should I say, East River water) after the accident occurred on a fine Saturday evening. Eyewitness videos captured the ship going in reverse at a breakneck speed towards the bridge. One by one, the masts said their goodbyes to the ship as they collided with the iconic Brooklyn Bridge.

Not really sure why this matters, but the National Transportation Safety Board decided to send in the troops to figure out what on earth happened. The investigators were expected to arrive fashionably late on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, New York City Mayor Eric Adams reassured everyone that the bridge managed to escape major damage. However, at least 19 individuals on board the ship required some medical TLC. Two of the unlucky souls who suffered serious injuries unfortunately didn’t make it, Adams sadly announced on social media.
