A mother from Bosnia with four children left the Spreewald village a few days after moving to Lieberose for fear of racist attacks. In view of the allegations, the police are investigating and want to clarify what happened. The mother reported on Friday evening in the RBB evening show of aggressive threats shortly after moving to town: A man is said to have hit the window of the apartment, bawled Nazi slogans and shown the Hitler salute. She was asked to “pack her things”.
Her children were scared and didn’t want to stay in Lieberose any longer, said the single mother. Her daughter was followed and mobbed by young people. Previously, the “Lausitzer Rundschau” and other media reported about it. The woman had moved from Berlin to the 1,300-inhabitant town of Lieberose (Dahme-Spreewald) with her children in July.
The Victims Perspective Association, which is in contact with the family, also reported allegations that a relative of the family in Lieberose was threatened and attacked with a bicycle lock. The adviser to the Victims’ Perspective Association, Martin Vesely, told the dpa that he considered the family’s descriptions to be credible. The family also experienced solidarity from neighbors.
A police spokeswoman said in the RBB evening show that investigations should now be carried out in the area and everyone involved should be heard. According to media reports, there are also allegations against a family friend. The police spokeswoman told the “Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung” that there were different statements about a dispute on the market square between members of the family and a group of young people that were being checked. The young people involved were asked to stay away from the family.
According to preliminary figures, the number of politically motivated right-wing crimes in Brandenburg increased significantly in the first half of this year. According to the Ministry of the Interior, 1049 cases were counted from January to June. That’s an increase of a third compared to the year before, when 789 cases were recorded.
