People over 60 years of age in Germany have been informed by mail from their health insurance company about a recommended further booster vaccination against Corona. At the request of Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD), the statutory and private health insurance companies had sent appropriate letters for clarification and information, said a spokeswoman for the Federal Ministry of Health on Monday in Berlin. The “Bild” newspaper had previously reported on it.

Lauterbach had already announced a new, larger vaccination campaign weeks ago. Several advanced vaccines are available for boosting a basic immunization against corona that was given a long time ago. The Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) had recommended a second Covid 19 booster for certain groups such as people over 60 years of age.
