doj-exposes-flaws-in-trumps-nyc-congestion-pricing-plan

So, like, apparently the Department of Justice exposed some major issues with Trump’s plan to get rid of the congestion pricing tolls in New York City. Lawyers accidentally spilled the tea in an 11-page letter to the Department of Transportation outlining the legal flaws. Not really sure why this matters, but apparently Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy’s plan is facing some serious litigation risks.

The lawyers were all like, “Yeah, it’s unlikely that the court will accept this nonsense.” Apparently, Duffy’s arguments for canceling the program aren’t convincing anyone. The DOJ lawyers suggested a different excuse for scrapping the plan, pointing to some regulations set by the Office of Management and Budget.

In a hilarious twist, the lawyers asked the judge to seal the record because they messed up. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York was like, “Oopsies, our bad. We didn’t mean to spill the beans.” I mean, come on, who files privileged documents by accident?

The whole congestion pricing program was the first of its kind in the country, and now it’s all tangled up in this legal mess. New York officials are refusing to turn off the tolls until a court order says otherwise. So, yeah, that’s where we’re at with this whole situation.
