Because of the fire in the Ewin prison in northern Tehran, there were spontaneous expressions of solidarity with the political prisoners in Iran in several German cities on Saturday evening. According to the police, groups of people gathered in Berlin in front of the Foreign Office and in front of the Iranian embassy for demonstrations. The exact number of participants could not be announced by the police in the evening. The protests were peaceful and quiet. In Frankfurt and Hamburg, too, several people spontaneously gathered in front of the Iranian Consulates General late in the evening. In Hamburg, the meeting ran until the early hours of the morning. The participants were excited but remained peaceful, police said. They had called for solidarity with the politically imprisoned in Iran.
