Against the background of numerous crises and sharp price increases, the trade unions are again expecting more participants in the rallies on May 1st. The war in Ukraine, higher living costs and high inflation ensured that union issues received more support again, said Susanne Wiedemeyer, country director of the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB), on Tuesday. Since last year, there have been increased entries into the unions.

The DGB is holding rallies in 14 cities in Saxony-Anhalt on May 1st. In recent years, the Corona regulations in particular have dampened the flow of traditional May rallies. This year, the DGB expects around 10,000 participants across the country.
