After the body of a 14-year-old boy was found in Wunstorf near Hanover, investigators still have many unanswered questions. “Little is known about exactly what happened,” the prosecutor said. During the day, the autopsy in the forensic medicine is planned. “It will probably take a while.”
An arrest warrant against a 14-year-old suspect who had told the police that he had killed the boy is not yet available. The arrested youth should be brought before the court shortly. There is also no further information on the motive for a possible homicide – one hopes that the interrogations will clarify this as quickly as possible.
“It’s still too early for details, we’re at the beginning of the investigation,” a police spokeswoman from the Lower Saxony state capital described the interim status on Wednesday evening. Earlier, around noon, officials had discovered the young person’s body on a wasteland on the edge of a field in the Wunstorf district of Blumenau. He was reported missing by his father on Tuesday evening because he had not returned home from meeting the other 14-year-old from Wunstorf.
The police initially assumed that the person was missing until, during the investigation, the boy’s friend told the police that he had killed and hidden him. After a search of several hours, emergency services finally found the lifeless body. The victim’s friend was arrested on strong grounds of suspicion.
Tat is reminiscent of the case from Salzgitter
The crime caused horror in the small town near the Steinhude Sea. Many people in Lower Saxony were also reminded of an act in Salzgitter in which 15-year-old Anastasia was killed last summer. A 14-year-old has been on trial in Braunschweig for a few weeks. He is said to have murdered the young people insidiously together with a classmate who was 13 at the time of the crime and was therefore not of legal age.
Hanover’s Bishop Ralf Meister expressed his sympathy. His thoughts and prayers are with the family of the killed youth and the school community, it said in a statement. For Friday, Meister announced a non-public service to commemorate the deceased student.
According to a report by Norddeutscher Rundfunk, a funeral service is also planned at the school of the dead youth. The headmistress was therefore “stunned and infinitely sad” about what was happening. Pastors looked after the students.
