A 74-year-old woman from Saxony-Anhalt handed over 200,000 euros in cash to fraudsters on Friday afternoon. As the police announced on Saturday, the victim from Zwintschona had previously been called by an unknown woman. This informed her that a relative had been involved in an accident, was in custody and that bail was due.
The 74-year-old brought the money to a handover location in Halle and handed it over to an unknown man. According to the police, the victim only became aware of the fraud after a phone call with a family member.
