The main reason for the price increase in April was groceries, which rose by 17.2 percent year-on-year. In March, however, the increase in this category was even higher at 22.3 percent.

Energy prices, on the other hand, rose by only 6.8 percent. In March, the inflation rate here was only 3.5 percent. The main reason here is that energy prices skyrocketed a year ago as a result of the Russian attack on Ukraine.

Compared to the previous month of March, the prices rose by 0.4 percent according to the first estimate of the statisticians. The statistical office plans to publish the final results on May 10th.
