A virtual mentoring series called “MARG” has been launched by the Embassy of India in Washington DC in partnership with the Ministry of Education of India and University Grants Commission of India. The aim of this series is to connect Indian and Indian origin faculty at U.S. universities with students and researchers from Indian Universities, especially those from smaller cities and towns.

The main objective of this initiative is to provide Indian students and researchers with exposure to the latest developments in their fields of study, as well as knowledge, career opportunities, skilling, and research guidance from experts across the U.S. The first round of the series will feature Indian origin faculty from universities such as Stanford, Purdue, University of Maryland, and George Mason University.

During the inaugural session of the series, Deputy Chief of Mission Ambassador Sripriya Ranganathan emphasized the growing academic, research, skilling, and industrial ecosystem in India, particularly in critical and emerging technologies such as semiconductors, AI and ML, High Performance Computing, Quantum Science & Technology, Bioengineering, Clean Energy, and Advanced Materials. These sectors represent areas of deepening academic-research-technology partnership between India and the U.S. under the leadership of both countries.

Vice Chancellors and Directors from participating Indian Universities have expressed their belief that these sessions will be beneficial for students and faculty involved in teaching, skilling, and research in critical and emerging technology areas. The collaboration between Indian and U.S. experts is expected to open up new opportunities for academic growth and research advancements for students and researchers in India.

This initiative comes at a time when international collaborations and knowledge sharing are becoming increasingly important in the academic and research fields. By leveraging the expertise of faculty from U.S. universities, Indian students and researchers will have access to a wealth of knowledge and resources that can help them excel in their respective fields.

The MARG series is a step towards fostering greater academic exchange and collaboration between India and the U.S., paving the way for innovative research and academic excellence in both countries. It is a testament to the growing partnership between the two nations in the field of education and research, and it holds great promise for the future of academic development and innovation.
