During an off-road trip with an all-terrain vehicle, three people got stuck on a train track in Cologne and caused a collision with a passenger train. With luck, no one was injured. The federal police announced on Wednesday that the three inmates, aged 23 and 24, drove their SUV on a dirt road along the tracks on Tuesday evening. Finally, the driver tried to drive across the train tracks. But the car got stuck on the tracks.
The three occupants tried to pull the SUV back onto the dirt road with tension belts – but in vain. The regional train with 40 passengers reportedly crashed into the vehicle despite emergency braking and dragged it along.
The federal police are now investigating dangerous interventions in rail traffic. The accident caused massive delays in several trains.
