The best thing about Madrid is the friendliness of the people. I think that these verses by Sabina summarize in a few words how everyone who knows her falls in love and returns: «There where paths cross, where the sea cannot be conceived, where the fugitive always returns, let’s say I’m talking about Madrid».
This is not a city to visit, but to live it, there is always a plan and there are always people willing to share it with you, that is Madrid. I can’t imagine a better place.
I love the mountains, hiking through La Pedriza to the green pond with my family and enjoying a good meal, or going to the San Juan reservoir to practice water sports in the summer.
I like to feel that I get away from the hustle and bustle, that I connect with nature and with my own. Sometimes we include some sport in those getaways to nature and then the plan is complete.
I love the Barrio de las Letras or Malasaña. Madrid is a source of culture, art, leisure and enormous energy. Every day there is the opportunity to make an interesting plan, to learn, to meet people who want to improve the world… and in these areas there are hundreds of small businesses with business ideas and brilliant proposals and everyone smiles.
My greatest hobby is sports, which I practice at the Casa de Campo, at the Retiro, at the Temple of Debod and especially on my getaways to the mountains. And when I want to train indoors I go to my center, Crys Dyaz
I also love the cinema and the theater, especially going to the Lavapiés theaters, the Gran Vía cinemas or the Renoir cinemas. Another of the things that I never miss is sporting events, which we can boast of in Madrid: popular races through the center, tennis masters, football, basketball.
As for my favorite restaurants, they are La borda del mentidero, for its decoration and its grilled food (meat and fish), which are spectacular; Filandón, a beautiful place to enjoy with family and children, where market food and its fabulous apple tatin stand out, and El Trasgu, an Asturian in the northwest, with the best wines, as well as a delicious poached egg and tuna .
To have a coffee, or a mojito or a gin and tonic, I love the Areia, on Hortaleza street, and I love enjoying the spectacular views of the Riu Plaza de España hotel.
On the other hand, I recommend the concert by Fito and Fitipaldis, Alicia Keys and Los Secretos, and also ‘Wah Show’ as a show, the play ‘Ser o No ser’ and the program of ‘Las noche del Botanical’.
