The president of the Diputación de Alicante, Carlos Mazón, received this morning at the Provincial Palace Carlos Cardelle, Eloy Martínez, Antonio Escalant and José María Ponce, the four climbers from Alicante who make up the expedition that will depart for Pakistan to climb Broad Peak (also known as K3), the twelfth highest mountain on Earth at 8,047 meters.

During the meeting, which was also attended by the Deputy for Sports, Bernabé Cano, and the Deputy for the Environment, Miguel Ángel Sánchez, the president expressed the support of the Alicante Provincial Council and his admiration for facing this “great challenge”. “You are heroes,” said Mazón, who confirmed that from the provincial institution “we will closely follow your adventure.”
