With the 3-2 win over FC Augsburg, RB Leipzig consolidated its place among the top four in the Bundesliga. On Sunday (5.30 p.m. / DAZN) there is an endurance test at Bayer Leverkusen. Despite the victory, the game against Augsburg revealed problems that coach Marco Rose absolutely has to solve.

– Consistency over 90 minutes: While Leipzig quickly compensated for Arne Maier’s early goal in the first half, the quality of their own game dropped dramatically in the second half. Ball losses, a lack of structure with and against the ball, a lack of calm when in possession of the ball – the list of shortcomings is long. The late goal by Ruben Vargas was the logical consequence of Leipzig’s weakness.

– Inefficient in front of the goal: In the second half, RB opened up the ongoing issue of the past few weeks. The handling of the goal chances was partly negligent. “We would have to score goals four and five beforehand,” said defender Benjamin Henrichs. This made things exciting again after the Augsburg connection, although Leipzig didn’t finish their counterattacks consistently enough.

– Nkunku for the final sprint: Christopher Nkunku used his heel for one of his first actions to speed up the game. Although this one-two attempt failed, the Frenchman’s self-image in this move alone was a signal: I’m back. After recovering from a hamstring tear, Nkunku did not conjure up with Dani Olmo as he came on for the Spain international. But the duo could already be in the starting eleven together in Leverkusen.
