The MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg started the Basketball Champions League with a defeat. The Bundesliga team lost at AEK Athens on Tuesday evening 79:84 (43:44). The Swabians’ best shooter was Jayvon Graves with 17 points. The American also grabbed eleven rebounds. Three other players scored double figures in Eddy Edigin (15), Desure Buie (13) and Deion Hammond (10). Ludwigsburg will play the second game of the group phase next Tuesday (8 p.m.) against King Szczecin.

The MHP giants appeared to have recovered well after the cup exit and offered a great fight to the secret favorites for the Champions League title. Above all, thanks to the strength of the rebound, the guests were able to put forward again and again. The Germans were particularly superior under the basket on offense. Nevertheless, it remained a close match. That only changed in the last quarter, when Ludwigsburg was able to pull away a bit. But the home team had a happier ending thanks to an 8-0 run.
