The Veolia Towers Hamburg suffered a narrow defeat in the Eurocup. The third-placed player in the basketball Bundesliga lost 77-81 (36-45) to Promitheas Patras in Greece. The Towers’ top scorer was Kendale McCullum with 15 points. After four games in the European competition, Hamburg have two wins and two defeats.
The Greeks got off to a slightly better start and ended the first quarter 21:17. In the second half of the game, they extended the lead so that the score at half-time was 45:36. After that, the Hanseatic League were initially more effective.
The third period was used by the Towers to get within a point of Patras. With a 61:60 we went into the final quarter, in which the lead changed again. Just under two minutes before the end of the game, the North Germans were in the lead 73:72 thanks to a two-point shot by James Woodard. After that, however, the Greeks were again the more effective team.
