Tennis pro Alexander Zverev doesn’t think much of working with mental coaches. “I don’t believe in it,” said the 25-year-old Olympic champion at the Munich tennis tournament on Sunday. He has tried in the past to work with a sports psychologist. “But I have the feeling that they cause more problems than they really exist,” said the native of Hamburg.

The two-time winner of the Munich clay court tournament is one of the few top professionals who don’t have a mental coach on their team. Zverev agreed that tennis is a head sport. “But these are problems in your own head and not in someone else’s head,” said the German, who is seeking his third title at the Iphitos facility.
