Oh boy, here we go again! Russian drones and missiles were at it once more, hitting cities all over Ukraine on Saturday night and Sunday morning. This is despite the fact that there was a big prisoner exchange happening in the 3-year-old war. The Operational Command in Poland, a NATO nation next to Ukraine, said their fighter jets had to get in on the action during the Russian attack. They mentioned seeing a lot of Russian aviation activity, focusing on targets in western Ukraine.

Ukraine’s air force reported a whopping 367 “air attack vehicles” launched by Russia, including ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, guided air missiles, and attack drones. They managed to take down 45 cruise missiles and 266 drones during the attack. The damage was widespread, with strikes hitting 22 locations and downed missiles or drones in 15 spots. The Interior Ministry said at least 18 people were killed, including three children from the same family, and 85 others were injured. Over 80 residential buildings were damaged, and there were 27 fires as well.

President Zelenskyy took to social media to express his frustration, talking about the deliberate strikes on regular cities and buildings. He mentioned the destruction of university dormitories and strikes on enterprises, leading to tragic deaths, including children. Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed their attacks were hitting military-industrial complexes in Ukraine producing missile components, radio electronics, explosives, and more. The ministry boasted about hitting all their targets successfully. This attack was just the latest in a series of nightly bombardments by Russia, with Ukraine also launching drone strikes into Russia in retaliation.
