At least 32 people have died in a multi-vehicle collision on a highway in Egypt. Sixty others were injured on the road between Cairo and Alexandria, the state news site Al-Ahram reported on Saturday. Accordingly, oil spilled from a vehicle onto the street, whereupon several cars collided and some caught fire. Images of the accident showed several burned-out vehicles.

In Egypt there are regularly serious traffic accidents with many deaths. The causes include careless or aggressive driving styles and the poor condition of the roads. Seat belts are rarely used.
