A fire in a passenger bus in Pakistan killed 17 people on Thursday. Twelve children are among the victims, officials said. The reason for the fire was a short circuit in the air conditioning system.
The bus carried around 50 people who wanted to return to their village after the flood disaster in recent weeks. Although the floods continue to grip the country, at least in some regions the water has receded.
The incident happened in the southern province of Sindh. Poor safety standards, old roads and poorly maintained vehicles lead to many accidents in Pakistan which, according to official statistics, kill thousands every year.
