As expected, Rob Cross started the Darts World Championship with a clear victory. The 33-year-old Englishman, nicknamed Voltage, clearly defeated Thibault Tricole 3-0 and also benefited from the Frenchman’s major double weakness.
Cross started weakly himself, but then improved as the game progressed and was unstoppable after winning the second set.
In contrast to James Wade (England) and Peter Wright (Scotland), the trained electrician is still represented in the tournament after the three-day Christmas break. Cross surprisingly won the World Championship in 2018 and defeated darts legend Phil Taylor in the final in his last game as a professional.
Previously, Latvia’s Madars Razma beat Mike de Decker from Belgium 3-1 in London. De Decker defeated the German Dragutin Horvat in the first round. Razma will face English defending champion Michael Smith in round three, which begins after the holidays on December 27th.
