The countdown is running. Christmas is in two days. How this day is celebrated in Germany, whether with extended family, friends or alone, with a Christmas tree or without, extensively decorated or simply, varies greatly. The opinion research institute Forsa conducted a survey with around 1,000 people on behalf of RTL Deutschland. The answers show how the Germans organize this special day.

Nine out of ten of those surveyed said they would celebrate Christmas this year. This shows that Christmas Eve is important for the majority of Germans. What is interesting is that 86 percent of non-religious people celebrate Christmas. Accordingly, the festival is celebrated across all population groups, regardless of religious background.

The most important question: Christmas tree, yes or no? Opinions differ here.
