The woman, in her late 40s, came to our clinic as an emergency and complained of an extreme headache that had suddenly appeared. Experts speak of a thunderclap headache. In the emergency room, she appeared slightly dazed and confused, and her vision was very blurry. Alarmed, the colleagues immediately had a computer tomogram of the brain made. They feared that there had been a hemorrhage between the middle and inner meninges, a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Or that a blood vessel in the brain had ruptured.
