Around 20 people were injured in a violent explosion in downtown Fort Worth, Texas. According to initial findings, the incident was a gas explosion in a hotel, as the responsible authorities announced.

Around two dozen rooms in the hotel were occupied and construction work was taking place in the building at the time of the explosion, the fire department said at a press conference. Some people were temporarily trapped in the basement, but could have been rescued. TV images showed numerous debris on the street around the hotel.
