Ukraine says it shot down two Russian military aircraft over the Sea of Azov. This was an A-50 reconnaissance aircraft and a machine that also serves as a command post, as the Ukrainian Air Force announced on Monday. She did not provide any information about the nature of the shooting.
Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief Valery Zalushny congratulated the armed forces on the “perfectly planned operation.” Accordingly, the aircraft were used for reconnaissance, identifying targets and coordinating troops.
Russia initially did not provide any information about the incident. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a press conference that he had “no information about it.” He referred to the Russian Defense Ministry, which rarely releases information on casualties in the war in Ukraine. According to Russian bloggers, the plane, which serves as a command post, was able to land after the attack. However, this information is so far unconfirmed.
The war in Ukraine has already lasted almost two years; the mutual attacks have increased in recent weeks.
