The main round of the European Handball Championship is underway and the matches have been determined. After the defeat against France on Tuesday evening, things will be more difficult for the German team. The DHB selection will play against Iceland on Thursday, against Austria on Saturday, against Hungary next Monday and then against Croatia on Wednesday.

The games in the main round will be played in Cologne (Group 1) and Hamburg (Group 2). The final round will take place in Cologne. All of the German team’s games will be broadcast on free TV by ARD or ZDF, although it was not yet clear on Wednesday which public broadcaster would broadcast all of the games. In addition, some other matches without German participation can also be seen in the streams of the ARD and ZDF media libraries.

The DHB selection last won the title at the European Men’s Handball Championship in 2016. Now the team around national coach Alfred Gislason wants to write a winter fairy tale in their own country. Two victories in the preliminary round had fueled the enthusiasm for handball in the country

Alexander Bommes moderates for ARD, supported by commentator Florian Naß and former world champion Johannes Bitter. Yorck Polus is the presenter at ZDF. In the second, Christoph Hamm comments together with former world champion Markus Baur.

All 65 games of this Handball World Cup will also be broadcast on the new paid streaming platform Dyn and also on the European Handball Federation’s YouTube channel, EHF TV. According to its own information, Dyn has at least 31 games exclusively in its program.

Germany plays in the main round games in the evening, either from 6 p.m. or 8:30 p.m.
