A mother and her daughter are said to have paid a supposed contract killer 17,000 euros in Wolfenbüttel, Lower Saxony, for killing the younger girl’s ex-boyfriend. The two women had been charged with attempted incitement to murder, Andy Belke from the Braunschweig public prosecutor said on Friday the German Press Agency. The women face a trial at the Braunschweig district court.

According to investigators, the 69-year-old Iranian and her 41-year-old German-Iranian daughter commissioned a 33-year-old to kill the daughter’s ex-partner at the end of last year. Apparently, the acquaintance accepted the offer, but never intended to carry out the order. After the 17,000 euros were paid, the man informed the police, who monitored another meeting and then arrested the women.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, after the couple separated, there was a custody dispute over a child together. According to the indictment, the 36-year-old ex-boyfriend should not have custody or visitation rights according to the women’s will. According to the investigators, the alleged contract killer did not know the potential victim. Both women were arrested on December 2 and have been in custody since then.
