Film music composer Hans Zimmer started his 2023 European tour in Oberhausen on Sunday with newly arranged sounds of his world hits. The two-time Oscar winner played in front of 10,000 concert-goers. The Hollywood star’s live band and orchestra musicians presented classics from films such as “Gladiator”, “Pirates of the Caribbean” and “Interstellar”. Zimmer is known for his electronic music sound with traditional orchestral arrangements.

The 65-year-old, who was born in Frankfurt am Main, became famous for the music for the cartoon “The Lion King” (1994), for which he won his first Oscar. Zimmer received his second Academy Award in 2022 for the film music for the blockbuster “Dune”. The German was first nominated for an Oscar in 1988 for the music to “Rain Man”.
