Many people in Israel criticize Netanyahu’s course in the war against the Islamist Palestinian organization Hamas. Among other things, they fear that without an early ceasefire, the hostages in the Gaza Strip could be killed. Netanyahu has repeatedly stated that he wants to destroy Hamas.
“If it continues like this, all the hostages will die,” said demonstrator Avi Lulu Shamriz in Tel Aviv, the father of hostage Alon Shamriz, who was accidentally shot by Israeli soldiers in the Gaza Strip. “It’s not too late to free them all.”
Protester Dor Endov said Netanyahu “really wants this war to continue.” Israel had already lost the war on October 7th “when these people were kidnapped.”
On October 7, Hamas militants killed around 1,140 people and kidnapped around 250 people as hostages in the Gaza Strip in an unprecedented and brutal attack on Israel. In response to the attack, Israel declared war on Hamas and launched a massive military operation in the Gaza Strip. According to the latest figures from the Hamas Ministry of Health, which cannot be independently verified, more than 24,900 people have been killed there since then.
