NFL star Shaquil Barrett mourns the loss of his daughter Arrayah. The two-year-old girl drowned Sunday in the pool at the family home in Tampa, Flirda, the Tampa Police Department said. Accordingly, the police were informed shortly before 9.30 a.m. that a child had fallen into a swimming pool. Officers were dispatched to Barrett’s home in the Beach Park neighborhood of south Tampa and the football player’s daughter was taken to a hospital. Any help came too late, the doctors could only determine the death of the girl.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the police report. However, the emergency services expect a “purely coincidental tragic incident”.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were dismayed at the death of the daughter of their star line hacker, who won the Super Bowl with the team in February 2021. “Today’s tragic news is heartbreaking for all members of the Buccaneers family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Shaq, Jordanna and the entire Barrett family at this unimaginably difficult time,” the Buccaneers said in a statement.

“While words cannot offer real comfort in such a situation,” the team added, “we offer them our support and love as they begin to process this profound loss of their beloved Arrayah.”

Ex-quarterback Tom Brady, who recently retired, also sent his condolences on Instagram with a heart and a photo of the Barrett family.

Barrett and his wife Johanna have three other children. The youngest of them, Arrayah, had just celebrated her birthday two weeks ago. The NFL star posted a photo on Instagram. “Happy second birthday to my sweet girl,” Barrett wrote. “You made our family complete. I love you my baby girl.”

Barrett, who is recovering from a torn Achilles tendon that sidelined him in the second half of last season, is entering his fifth year at Tampa Bay after spending the first four seasons of his career with the Denver Broncos.
