In Hanover, a man set his dog on two women after the American Staffordshire Terrier had previously attacked and seriously injured a small Chihuahua. The terrier has now been confiscated and in the animal shelter, the police said on Sunday. The holder, a 43-year-old, is being investigated for threats and attempted dangerous bodily harm.

The incident is said to have happened on Thursday in the Linden-Nord district. In the outdoor area of a café, the Staffordshire Terrier bit the Chihuahua on the neck, the police reported on Friday. The dog owner then fled without taking care of the injured smaller animal or leaving his details.

Two other women, one with her own dog, followed the man. When he noticed her, he is said to have loosened his terrier’s leash and pointed him in the direction of the dog owner. The terrier ran towards the woman. Just before he reached her, the man called his dog back and ran away with him.

Witnesses called the police, who were looking for the man. On Saturday afternoon, police officers on patrol finally recognized the man and his dog while they were out walking.
