Beavers, Ducks Secure Spots in NCAA Baseball Tournament
PORTLAND, Ore. – Both Oregon State and Oregon have clinched spots in the NCAA Division I baseball tournament, with the Beavers set to host a regional in Corvallis and the Ducks securing an at-large selection to the Santa Barbara Regional.
The Division I Baseball Committee announced the 16 regional hosts on Sunday, guaranteeing all hosts a place in the national tournament. The remaining 64-team field and first-round matchups were revealed on Monday.
Oregon State (42-14, 19-10 Pac-12), seeded 15th overall, finished second in the Pac-12 conference. The Beavers, led by standout second baseman Travis Bazzana, the Pac-12 player of the year, have had an impressive season with Bazzana boasting a .424 batting average and 26 home runs. The team has been dominant at Goss Stadium with 24 wins and only two losses.
In their first regional game on Friday, the Beavers will face Tulane in a matchup airing on ESPNU.
Oregon (37-18, 19-11) is making its fourth consecutive postseason appearance after finishing third in the Pac-12. The Ducks, led by freshman shortstop Maddox Molony, have shown their strength with a .355 batting average and 10 home runs in 38 games.
The Ducks will kick off their Santa Barbara Regional campaign against San Diego (40-13) on Friday at noon, also broadcast on ESPNU.
The regional tournaments follow a double-elimination format, ensuring that teams must lose two games before being eliminated. The 16 regional winners will move on to the super regionals, followed by the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska, beginning on June 14.
