On day two of the 77th Cannes International Film Festival, the world premiere of George Miller’s (79) highly anticipated “Mad Max” sequel “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga” was on the festival program. Furiosa actress Anya Taylor-Joy (28) attracted everyone’s attention on the red carpet. The 28-year-old, known among other things for the Netflix series “The Queen’s Gambit”, appeared in a breathtaking, strapless Dior dress with a corset-like top. Many other Hollywood stars also didn’t miss the world premiere of the now fifth “Mad Max” part. In addition to director Miller and the male lead, Marvel star Chris Hemsworth (40), who appeared with his glamorous wife Elsa Pataky (47), Naomi Campbell (53), Hollywood icon Faye Dunaway (83) and “Elvis” – and “Moulin Rouge” director Baz Luhrmann (61) the honor. The latter is said to have described “Furiosa” as “a steampunk Wagner opera” when leaving the cinema, as the US industry magazine “Deadline”, which was present in Cannes, claims to have found out.
In addition to those mentioned, the prominent jury members Eva Green (43) and “Barbie” director and jury president Greta Gerwig (40) also walked the red carpet on the Croisette. Miller’s work, which tells the story of the character Imperator Furiosa played in “Mad Max: Fury Road” by Charlize Theron (48), received exactly seven minutes and 50 seconds of applause in the festival palace. “Thank you very much. We worked very hard on this film and it’s very interesting to see what you think of it,” said director Miller, who has directed all previous “Mad Max” installments, after the screening.
