In Austria, a 91-year-old driver ran over and fatally injured his 84-year-old wife while backing out of his driveway. The man probably didn’t even notice the accident and drove away from home to go shopping without stopping, the police reported. Passers-by found the woman lying on the ground in Köflach and called the emergency doctor. But he was only able to determine the death of the elderly woman, according to the police.
According to his own statements, the 91-year-old only noticed the accident when he returned from shopping. The Graz public prosecutor ordered an autopsy of the body. The driver is charged with negligent homicide.
