A 114-year-old man, who was considered the oldest man in the world since 2022, has died in Venezuela. “Juan Vicente Pérez Mora passed into eternity at the age of 114,” said Venezuelan head of state Nicolás Maduro on Tuesday (local time) on the online service X. The Guinness Book of Records officially listed Pérez as the oldest man on February 4, 2022 Earth confirmed. At the time, the Venezuelan was 112 years and 253 days old.
Pérez leaves behind a rich offspring. The father of 11 children had a total of 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren, according to 2022 records.
The farmer known as Tio Vicente was born on May 27, 1909 in El Cobre in the Andean state of Táchira as the ninth of ten children. At the age of five, according to the Guinness Book of Records, he began helping his father and brothers in agriculture, such as harvesting sugar cane and coffee.
