According to London, Chechen ruler Ramzan Kadyrov wants to emphasize the role played by his fighters in Ukraine in order to demonstrate his loyalty to Russian President Vladimir Putin. This emerges from the intelligence service report on the war in Ukraine by the Ministry of Defense in London. Kadyrov recently recognized the efforts of a Chechen battalion in the heavily contested sector of Orikhiv in Zaporizhia Oblast, according to a statement posted by the British on platform formerly known as Twitter.
“Chechen forces represent a relatively small but prominent part of Russia’s forces in Ukraine,” the British statement said. It went on to say: “Kadyrov is probably heavily touting the role of his units in part because he wants to polish his credibility as a Putin loyalist.”
The British Ministry of Defense has published daily information on the course of the war since the beginning of the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine in February 2022. Moscow accuses London of disinformation.
