Despite the transfer of millions from Harry Kane, former national soccer player Holger Badstuber (34) still sees a need to catch up in the formation of the squad at Bayern Munich.
“Kane is important, but the biggest construction site in the Bayern squad still exists. The width is definitely of high quality. But: The six-man position in defensive midfield is not clearly defined enough,” wrote former Bayern defender Badstuber in his column for ” web.de news”.
According to his idea, a real six is ”physically strong, big, just plays, wins duels, conquers balls and is there when it burns. He takes “dirty” paths that others would be too good for. I see neither in this role (Joshua) Kimmich nor (Konrad) Laimer, (Leon) Goretzka or (Ryan) Gravenberch.” Badstuber thinks more of players like Casemiro (Manchester United) or the former Bayern clearer Javi Martinez. “If this construction site is not closed, there could be further problems.”
Tuchel is also looking for “the right defensive six”
Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel has repeatedly pointed out that he wants to bring a “proper defensive six” to Munich, who primarily “makes sure that nothing happens at the back” with his positional loyalty. He doesn’t see the midfielders mentioned above as optimally filled in this role.
