EXCLUSIVE: Kosé, Japan’s Beauty Giant, Opens First Stand-alone Retail Store in L.A. Area
Kosé Corp., the Japanese beauty giant, is making waves in the beauty industry by opening its inaugural physical retail location in the Los Angeles area at The Shops at Santa Anita in Arcadia, California. This strategic move comes as part of Kosé’s focus on expanding its presence in the U.S. market, particularly targeting the vibrant Asian community in the region.
Founded in 1946 by Kozaburo Kobayashi, Kosé has been a leading manufacturer of beauty, cosmetics, and personal care products. With headquarters in Tokyo, the company boasts a diverse portfolio of over 30 brands that are distributed across 68 regions and countries. The decision to establish a stand-alone store in L.A. signifies a significant milestone for Kosé, known for its high-quality products and innovative approach to beauty.
The new 1,230-square-foot store at 400 South Baldwin Avenue offers a wide range of products catering to all genders, from skincare to nail care, at varying price points ranging from $3 to $1,000. Customers can explore well-known brands like Decorté, Sekkisei, and Addiction Tokyo, as well as exclusive in-house labels such as One by Kosé and Kosé Infinity. Additionally, the store features men’s brand Magnifique and mass-market skincare brand Softymo, among other emerging brands new to the U.S. market.
Kosé’s retail strategy aims to enhance the Japanese beauty and wellness experience by providing personalized services such as utilizing a skin diagnostic machine for tailored beauty assessments and offering customized product text printing for gifting purposes. The store prominently features the face of L.A. Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani, who serves as Kosé’s global ambassador, creating an engaging and interactive shopping environment for customers.
In addition to the retail store launch, Kosé plans to collaborate with Dodger Stadium, where ads will be displayed and product sampling opportunities will be provided during games to increase brand visibility and engagement. This holistic approach underscores Kosé’s commitment to strengthening its presence in the U.S. beauty market and resonating with a diverse customer base seeking innovative beauty solutions.
As Kosé paves the way for Japanese beauty brands to thrive in the competitive U.S. market, the opening of its first stand-alone store in the L.A. area marks a significant milestone for the company and signals a new era of growth and expansion in the beauty industry.
