Once led the danes as vikings in Europe drukstatistikker. It now looks like we are more the other countries.

Denmark is the last ten years for one of the largest fall in alcohol consumption in OECD countries. From 12,1 litres of pure alcohol per year per adult over the age of 15 in 2007 to 9.1 litres in 2017.

It is thus not far from the average consumption in the OECD countries of 8.9 litres, shows a new report from the OECD, which annually compares the health conditions in the 36 member states.

But the danes leaning is still significantly more beer, wine and alcohol in the throat than the nordic brothers and sisters. Here is the consumption per person 6 litres in Norway, 7.1 in Sweden and the 8.4 in Finland.

– the Consumption in Denmark is still too high. My concern goes particularly to the young, who still have a large consumption, says chairman of Danish Regions ‘ health committee, Karin Nakitbahis Friis Bach (R).

A study from Vidensråd for the Prevention showed in June that the Danish young people start to drink alcohol earlier than young people in most other european countries. They drink far more and with the goal to become full.

Professor Janne Tolstrup of the national Institute for public Health at the University of Southern denmark, was the author of the report.

– With the young in primary schools to 9. class, consumption has fallen over many years. The problem occurs when young people switch to the secondary sector, where alcohol consumption is rising dramatically, she says.

According to the Danish Regions, should Parliament introduce a minimum age for the purchase of all alcohol, also beer and wine, at 18 years instead of 16 as in the rest of the Nordic countries.

– It is forslæbende, to Denmark as the only country in the Nordic countries still allow the sale of among other things, alcopops, breezers, beer and wine to 16-year-old, says Karin Friis Bach.

at the same time, Danish Regions, a minimum price per item.

– Not least the hard alcohol is very cheap. It is a problem when young people drink cheap vodka for 70 dollars the bottle instead of the beer for the parties, she says.
