The Danish national coach Åge Hareide are considering to go completely on the fodboldpension, when the summer’s european championship finals is over.
he mentions, as the Norwegian Newspaper ask him whether he had at all been interested to continue as the Danish national coach – if not the DBU itself had chosen to replace him, with Kasper Hjulmand for the summer.
“They haven’t asked me, but it may well be that I would say no, if the query came. It is not that I absolutely must be in the job.”
“Right now I’m actually, if I should stop completely. I will be 67 years old next year, and if I have to have a life before I get too old, it’s something I must begin to assess,” says Hareide to the Newspaper.
Under the Hareides leadership, Denmark has qualified for both the WORLD cup and european championship, and excluding the vikarlandsholdets defeat in Slovakia last year, the national team have not lost in 33 games in a row.
Yet you chose DBU in June to announce that Kasper Hjulmand takes over the national team after this summer’s european championship, among other things, played in Copenhagen.
And the decision – at least the timing of its publication – has irritated the Norwegian tremendously, and there have been several suppositories against DBU since then.
But now considering Hareide therefore whether or not the Danish landstrænerjob must be his fodboldansættelse.
“I have had two periods in Denmark, where it has gone well, and I have done well with Malmö (the job within the Danish landstrænerjob, ed.). It is something that has taught me that it maybe is good to stop while one is on the top.”
“You have a family with grandchildren and all that, and one would like to have time with them. Now I can pull myself back and be happy.”
