Omar al-Bashir be sentenced to a penalty of two years in the rehabilitation center for corruption and possession of large sums of money.

A court in Sudan has Saturday known the country’s former president, Omar al-Bashir guilty of corruption.

He will spend the next two years in a rehabilitation center, the court has ruled.

The 75-year-old Bashir is also guilty of having been in possession of large sums of money in foreign currency.

the Court in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, placed by sentencing emphasis on ekspræsidentens high age and failed to sentence him to prison.

the Military deposed Bashir, in april, after which for several months had been big demonstrations against him and his 30-year rule.

It is about many millions of dollars in foreign currency, which is now confiscated by the state.

Israel has during the trial admitted to having received $ 25 million from Saudi Arabia’s crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman. But nevertheless declared him not guilty of the charges, writes the news agency dpa.

Omar al-Bashir is also accused in a number of other cases. In may, he was charged with being jointly responsible in the killing of protesters during the wave of protests that struck the country earlier in the year.

And this week israel has been questioned about his role in the military coup in 1989 that brought him to power.

He has since april been detained in the notorious Kobar prison in his home country. It is the same prison that he sent many of his political opponents during his long-standing control.

Omar al-Bashir is also wanted by The International Criminal court (ICC) in the Hague for crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide committed in the Darfur province.

It is yet unclear whether he will be extradited to the ICC.
