Some time ago I received a letter from a colleague. She asked me to perform heart surgery on her patient. Usually the messages from referring doctors are about medical details, results of preliminary examinations, blood values, things like that. This letter reported on the patient’s difficult life situation. The doctor asked me to be extremely careful with the young woman because she was very anxious and still needed to be convinced to have the operation.
