Creamed and still sunburn? This is, unfortunately, more often than one would like, and may be taken not lightly. Because – you can’t say it any different –the sun’s rays damage our skin. Let this fast and can even lead to skin cancer. Therefore a suitable sun protection (between the light protection factor of 30 to 50) simply indispensable. (Also important is that your sunscreen should not pollute the seas – read here our recommendations for ocean-friendly sun protection)

We will show you what are the three mistakes almost everyone makes when sun cream Application and should not happen to you:

mistake #1: Old sun cream

From your last beach holiday, half of the Tube is left of it – will be this year is still okay, right? The very clear (and emphatic) answer is: no! Most of the Lotion to a maximum of one year shelf life, some even only six months. mistake #2: Not enough sun cream

It can be very harmful, if you put no cream to be rare, or too little, Lotion used. Caution: in the morning put the cream on is not enough for the whole day, even if you bathe in between in the sea or in the Pool! The rule of thumb: add more wood Every two hours. And always creams, if you come out of the water (of course, on dry skin). In terms of the amount, to Orient you to the size of a Golf ball. Yes, that sounds like a lot, but you also have plenty of sun protection factor on the skin. (Also worth reading: day cream with SPF: The practical sun protection in the spring?)

mistake #3: Incorrect protection

With the light protection factor of 30, one is right all the time, unless you holiday in Australia? This is, unfortunately, nonsense. The lighter the skin and the stronger the sunlight is, the more protection the skin needs. This does not mean that pale people should always put on a sun protection factor 50 – especially at the beginning of the summer, when the skin is still all pre-tanned.
