It’s Brandenburg Day in Finsterwalde. On this first weekend in September, Brandenburg’s Prime Minister Dietmar Woidke, SPD, walks around the festival grounds of the singing city in a good mood and shakes hands. On stage the choir sings “My Little Green Cactus”.

Christian Esser, investigative reporter from stern and RTL, runs towards the Prime Minister. He briefly introduces himself and then speaks directly to his concern: “Mr. Woidke, good morning, we also have a question about Brandenburg. Accidents happen every day in the Tesla factory. Are these the good, industrial-political jobs you want Brandenburg promised when accidents happen there almost every day?” This morning the reporter doesn’t get a real answer to this question, but in the days following the publication of the research results, many of the responsible politicians speak out. Including a federal government minister.

In the last episode of the stern podcast “Inside Tesla – Behind the Gates of the Gigafactory”, the team of reporters documents the reactions to the publication of the research and examines the statements made by the state government in Brandenburg and its authorities. Do they stand up to our fact check? Who actually takes responsibility for the problems in the factory?

And Tesla boss Elon Musk also tweets. More in episode 5 of the stern podcast “Inside Tesla – Behind the Gates of the Gigafactory”
