Kansas has pulled in the Big 12 men’s basketball championship after a favorable COVID-19 evaluation, the school announced Friday.

Kansas large men David McCormack and Tristan Enaruna missed the Big 12 championship due to COVID-19 protocols, though coach Bill Self did not specify whether player tested positive for the virus or was outside because of contact tracing. Single-player traveled with the group to Kansas City, Missouri.

Kansas will stay at Kansas City and continue to get analyzed daily according to NCAA championship protocols.

“While we’ve been lucky to prevent this during the season, you will find daily risks for this particular virus which everyone engaging is hoping to prevent. We’ve followed the daily testing and extra protocols which were installed for us, sadly we caught a bad break in the incorrect moment. I anticipate preparing my group in probably a exceptional manner for the next week’s NCAA Tournament.”

Kansas is the fourth group in the past two days to draw from a conference tournament due to COVID-19 Problems, after Duke and Virginia from the ACC and No. 1 seed North Carolina A&T from the MEAC.

Virginia and Kansas could still play at the NCAA championship, despite having to reveal seven consecutive times of negative evaluations. If the Cavaliers nor Jayhawks have a prevalent COVID-19 epidemic and the remainder of the group continues to test negative, both teams may be qualified to play at the NCAA tournament.

Saturday is the deadline for any team presuming it can’t fulfill the healthcare protocols to alert the Division I Men’s Basketball Committee.

Virginia trainer Tony Bennett said earlier Friday that the Cavaliers have been”exhausting all choices to take part in the NCAA Tournament.”
