Hannover 96 is in a promotion spot in the 2nd Bundesliga, at least for one night. The Lower Saxony team won 2-1 (1-0) against 1. FC Magdeburg, who have now been winless for five games.

In front of 38,000 spectators, Enzo Leopold gave the 96ers the lead with a deflected shot in the 11th minute. The Magdeburgers had previously given the ball away carelessly during the build-up to the game.

After the equalizer with a remarkable long-range shot from Baris Atik (57th minute), it only took four minutes until the score was 2-1 again. Daniel Elfadli caused a hand penalty for Hannover, which 96-goal scorer Cedric Teuchert converted into his sixth penalty goal of the season (61st).

Magdeburg also had a good away game. The guests had significantly more possession of the ball – but only one dangerous player in Atik. The 28-year-old also missed the best opportunity to make it 2-2 with a free kick (78th).

Hanover was more compelling in comparison. Louis Schaub (34th) and Cedric Teuchert (38th) had the second goal on their hands before the break. The 96ers, on the other hand, hardly allowed any clear Magdeburg chances.
